Bullying Policy & Reporting
At Humboldt Unified School District, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students. Bullying, harassment, and intimidation are not tolerated in any form. Our Bullying Policy JICK outlines clear definitions and expectations to prevent and address any instances of bullying within our schools.
If you or your child experience or witness bullying, we encourage you to use out Bullying Reporting System, which provides a simple and confidential way to report concerns. We take every report seriously and are dedicated to ensuring a prompt and thorough response to maintain a positive and respectful learning environment for all students.
Understanding the difference between the Bullying/Harassment/Intimidation Complaint Form and the Parent Concern Form is important, as each serve a specific purpose in addressing issues within our schools.
- The Bullying/Harassment/Intimidation Complaint Form is used to report serious incidents where a student is being bullied, harassed, or intimidated by peers or others. These forms are intended for situations where a student feels unsafe or threatened, and the school must intervene to protect the student's well-being and ensure a safe learning environment. These reports are handled with the utmost urgency and confidentiality, as they may require immediate action.
- The Parent Concern Form, on the other hand, is a broader tool used to voice general concerns or issues regarding your child's experience at school. This include concerns about classroom management, academic support, communication with teachers, other school-related matters that do not involve bullying or harassment. This form allows parents to bring important matters to the attention of school staff to find resolutions and improve the overall school experience.
It is crucial to complete both forms thoroughly and factually. Accurate and complete information ensures that the school can effectively investigate and address the issue in a timely and appropriate manner. Filing a false report, whether intentional or due to incomplete information, can delay help for those in need and may have serious consequences. We ask that all reports are submitted with the care and responsibility needed to ensure fairness and support for all students involved.
Together, we can create a school community where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.
