Transportation
Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD) Transportation Overview
At HUSD, our Transportation Department is committed to providing safe, reliable, and efficient service every day. We transport over 2500 students across more than 300 square miles to our 10 schools, ensuring they arrive ready to learn. Safety is our top priority, with well-trained drivers and well-maintained buses. Our team plays a critical role in keeping the district running smoothly and ensuring every student has access to quality education.

School Bus Information
Safety First:
HUSD prioritizes the safety of all students using district transportation. Under Arizona law, bus services may be provided for students who live more than 1.5 miles from their school within district boundaries. Transportation is a privilege, not a requirement, except for students with disabilities as stated in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Bus Driver Authority:
According to Arizona law, the bus driver is responsible for student behavior and safety on the bus. Drivers have the same authority as a teacher in the classroom. Any adult passengers, such as teachers or activity sponsors, also help supervise but remain under the authority of the bus driver.
Bus Pass & Alternate Stops:
If a student needs to get off at a different stop or ride a different bus, a parent/guardian must contact our transportation department. Students exiting at the wrong stop without permission will receive a referral.
HUSD allows high school students to use alternate stops on their assigned bus route without needing permission.
Kinder Students
Parent/Guardian Pickup:
A parent/guardian must meet the bus for kindergarten students.
* A parent may complete a Kinder Release Form to allow their student to be released without an adult, or to a sibling or designated person.
Bus Rules
Riding the bus is a privilege and all school behavior rules apply. Misconduct may result in losing bus privileges. The following rules apply at all times:
- Sit in assigned seats.
- Stay seated while the bus is moving.
- Keep hands, arms, and head inside the bus.
- Quiet talking only.
- Keep the aisle clear.
- No eating or drinking on the bus. (For safety reasons, due to food allergies.)
- No throwing objects.
- Keep hands to yourself.
- Follow the driver’s instructions.
HUSD takes student safety seriously. Eating on the bus is not allowed due to health risks for students with food allergies. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all.
