A: For students, ask your teacher or front office staff for assistance. Staff should submit a password reset request through Incident IQ.

Q: What should I do if I lose or damage my district-issued device?
A: Report the loss or damage immediately to your school office. Depending on the situation, there may be a fee for replacing or repairing the device.

Q: Can I bring my own device to school instead of using a district-issued one?
A: Students kindergarten - eighth grade are required to use district-provided devices to ensure compatibility with educational software and network security. High School students can bring their own device, but must be comply with the school acceptable use policy.

 


Access and Connectivity

Q: How do I connect my device to the district’s Wi-Fi?
A: Students and staff district devices will automatically connect to the district’s secure network. Guest Wi-Fi is available for approved visitors and student owned devices.

Q: What should I do if I can’t access the internet from home?
A: If your family does not have reliable internet access, please contact your school’s office to inquire about available support options or hotspot programs.

Q: How do I log into G Suite for Education or other online platforms?
A: Use your district-issued email and password to log in. If you experience any login issues, contact your school front office or homeroom teacher for support.

 


Software and Applications

Q: What educational apps and platforms does the district use?
A: HUSD uses G Suite for Education, along with other approved platforms such as Google Classroom, Clever, and district-specific learning management systems.

Q: How do I get help with Google Classroom or other learning platforms?
A: Teachers can provide initial support for Google Classroom. For technical issues, contact the IT Help Desk or consult the online tutorials available on the IT Department webpage.

Q: Can I install additional apps or software on my school-issued device?
A: No, only district-approved apps and software can be installed to maintain system security and functionality.

Q: How does the district protect student data?
A: HUSD complies with FERPA and other privacy regulations to safeguard student data. Our IT Department uses encryption, firewalls, and monitoring systems to protect against unauthorized access.

Q: What is the Acceptable Use Policy, and where can I find it?
A: The Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines guidelines for appropriate use of technology and district resources. You can find it on the district website under the Technology section or request a copy from your school’s office.

A: You can submit a Help Desk ticket by visiting the IT section on the district website or using the Help Desk link provided by your school.

Q: How long does it take to get a tech issue resolved?
A: Most issues are addressed within 24-48 hours, but complex problems may take longer. The Help Desk will provide updates on the status of your request.

Q: How can I monitor and manage my child’s online activity?
A: HUSD provides internet filtering on district devices, but we recommend that parents also set additional parental controls on home networks. You can review online safety tips and guidelines on the district’s IT webpage.

Q: What should I do if I suspect inappropriate online behavior or content?
A: Report any concerns immediately to the school administrator or the IT Department. The district takes all reports of online safety seriously and investigates them promptly.
