Unpaid Meal Charge Procedure

Monitoring Your Child’s Account

You can monitor your child’s meal account for free by creating an account at www.myschoolbucks.com. You can also add funds for a $2.75 fee using a debit or credit card. Cash or checks are accepted at all school cafeterias.

Children Who Qualify for Free Meals

Children who qualify for free meals will never be denied a meal, even with a negative balance. However, any negative balance must still be paid by the family.

À la Carte Items

Children cannot charge extra items (like a second milk or additional entrée) if their account is negative.

Alternate Meals for Negative Balances

While not required, we offer an alternate meal (sandwich, milk, fruits, and vegetables) to students with a negative balance after notifying the family. School administration will be informed if a student repeatedly receives an alternate meal.

Applying for Free/Reduced Meals

A new application must be submitted every year to continue eligibility for free or reduced meals. Applications are available mid-July.

Changes in Financial Circumstances

Families can submit a new application at any time during the school year if their financial situation changes (e.g., income decreases or household size increases).

Unpaid Meal Charges

Unpaid meal charges will carry over into the next school year, and collection efforts will continue.

Positive Account Balances

Any positive account balance will roll over to the next year. Parents or guardians can request a refund when a student graduates or withdraws. After 90 days, any remaining balance will be transferred to the School Meal Scholarship account, and refunds will no longer be available
