HUSD Hungry Kids Project

"Our Mission... to enable students to learn, by eliminating childhood hunger"
Hungry Kids Project Logo

Inspired by the vision of Carm Staker, the Founder of HUSD Hungry Kids, the Hungry Kids Project sends students within the Humboldt Unified School District home with bags of food for the weekend. With adequate nutrition, kids can return to school on Monday well-nourished and ready to learn.

There is no charge to students for the food bags. The bags include healthy selections for two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners, over the weekend while school is in session. The Humboldt Education Foundation operates solely on monetary donations and grants. Each bag sent home with a child costs the program $11.50. Goods are purchased through partnerships with HUSD Child Nutrition Department and local grocery stores.

If you would like to help pack on Friday mornings, please email the Humboldt Education Foundation at hefhusd16@gmail.com. You can also help by purchasing gift cards to Fry's and Walmart or checks can be mailed to:
