Move on When Reading (MOWR)
In October 2020, Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD) students in grades K–3 received their annual written notice regarding Arizona’s Move on When Reading (MOWR) law. This notice informs parents about the yearly screening for reading difficulties, including characteristics consistent with dyslexia.
HUSD utilizes an adopted universal screening process approved by the Arizona Department of Education to measure student reading abilities. The assessment tool currently in use is FastBridge.
The annual notice outlines:
- Action steps the school will take to address students' core instructional needs
- Targeted interventions designed to support students who require additional assistance
A copy of the notice is available below in both English and Spanish.
If your child demonstrates areas of concern, a second notice will be sent home, detailing the specific actions the school will take to address your child’s learning gaps.
For additional information or if you have concerns about your child’s reading progress, please contact your child’s teacher or school administration.
