 Letter from the Principal

"Welcome to the home of the Granville Geckos!"

Diana Green, PrincipalLocated in the Granville Subdivision in the town of Prescott Valley, our school sits on fifteen acres with lovely views of the surrounding mountains. Granville is Humboldt Unified School District's newest K-5 school, having opened in October, 2005.

We are committed to academic excellence, the performing and visual arts, the promotion of good character and citizenship and the physical well being of our students. We accomplish this mission through high expectations (both academically and behaviorally), the providing of a safe and positive learning environment, consistent and logical discipline, character education, and a strong partnership of parents, staff and community. We embrace the philosophy that each child is unique, deserving of respect and the opportunity to be challenged to reach his or her own potential.

Our ongoing goal is to maintain a collaborative learning community where students, staff, parents and community join together to create a seamless partnership centered on the best interests and needs of our students. We welcome the support of parents in our PTO, Site Council and other school committees and activities. We appreciate the support of our parents who strongly affirm that education and coming to school each day is important.

We offer extra curricular sports including Flag Football, Volleyball and Track. Our curriculum includes Music, PE, Library and classes in our beautiful new Computer Lab. The first Friday of each month we have our Art in the Afternoon program. We have a full range of support services, including Special Education, Title I Reading and ELL. We offer many field trips to enhance the curriculum being taught outside of the classroom.

Our faculty and support staff recognize and embrace a commitment to parents to provide ongoing communication regarding the progress of their children; to ensure a standards based learning environment of the highest quality, and data driven, personalized instruction for our students. Our school climate is positive, warm and welcoming. Our staff is extremely dedicated to the task that led all of us into education in the first place, to make a difference in the lives of children.

Sincerely,

Diana Green, Principal
