Letter from the Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Free and reduced lunch applications
Free and Reduced lunch applications have two benefits. For families that qualify, your students are eligible for a free or reduced breakfast and lunch each day. The application process is simple and confidential. Information on the form is turned in tothe District Food and Nutrition Department. We do not keep a list of families that qualify in the building and all students are treated the same when going through the lunch line. We know in the age of identity theft that many adults are worried sending in a form with your social security number as part of the process. If you have concerns about turning the form into the school, you can stop by and drop it off at the District office on Highway 69.
The school also benefits from the number of students that qualify for free and reduced meals. We are eligible for money from the State and Federal government and it improves our chances for grants. We are currently in the process to apply for total school Title I eligibility. In an economic time when money is limited, this would allow us to have more resources to help all of our students. We ca still process applications for this year but the applications for the 2009-2010 will not be available until July 13. Listed below is a shortened version of the eligibility requirements. If you have any questions, please call the office at (928) 759-4300.
Fundraising
Lions newspaper recycle bin is available for drop off at our school. In addition, our PTO has several fundraisers including the "Boxtop for Education", Albertsons, Target, Book Fairs, Frys, and more.
With the profit we made on our Little Caesars fundraiser, we have already purchased some new curriculum materials to help with reading instruction and intervention.
Playground Equipment
Through a collaborative effort between the District and Coyote Springs Elementary PTO, we are planning for new playground equipment. At the last School Board meeting, they approved $46,000 to update our playground equipment. We hope to have this equipment installed by the fall of 2009.
