Welcome,
Please take the time to read through our site; we are still working to upgrade so don’t hesitate to call us for more information or any questions you might have.
We are very proud of Liberty and our students. We look forward to sharing the many positive things about our school, from our high academic achievement to our students' community service. Please note that we believe that parent involvement is one of the most significant variables affecting student achievements, and that a positive school climate enables our students towards those goals.
The Liberty Traditional School Community continues to demonstrate its dedication and commitment to working together. The professional staff, committed LAC/PTO, and involved parents have a right to be proud of their efforts and those of the students. It is this winning combination that creates a successful school climate and enables Liberty to aim high to achieve our excelling status.
Educational Philosophy: The purpose of education is to develop the necessary skills, attitudes and abilities that will allow a child to grow and prosper in the future. It is our job to work with young people in ways that inspire them to learn and choose well – for now and later. The Liberty staff continues to challenge our students academically and behaviorally by setting high expectations and guiding them toward high achievement.
Student Behavior: The use of our Character Counts program and our discipline plan simply means that we care enough about students to provide them with a better way. Discipline used at Liberty for unacceptable behavior involves consequences, not punishment. Classroom and campus rules and procedures will be taught, and students will know them beforehand. Because the rules are reasonable and will be consistently applied, the expectation is that they will be followed. I also feel it is imperative that parents give input about and support for the discipline policies of the school (See Student/Parent Handbook).
Student/Parent Responsibility: Parents are responsible for taking an active role in the educational process including the following areas:
Physical Dimension: Parents should see that students get proper nutrition (breakfast at home or at school), practice good hygiene, and get adequate sleep. Students should attend school daily, and arrive dressed appropriately (following the dress code) on time.
Academic Dimension: Parents should encourage and guide student behavior and motivation, towards fulfilling classroom requirements. Homework: Monday – Thursday; parents should check their student’s homework and sign the agenda daily. Please provide adequate time and a quiet place for students to complete their work.
Teacher/school Responsibility: It is our responsibility to ensure that your child has the opportunity to progress as far as possible toward mastering the specific objectives that are set forth in the curriculum. This responsibility includes providing a safe, healthy environment and an appropriate atmosphere in which learning can take place.
At Liberty, our doors are always open; you are welcome to visit the school at anytime and I encourage you to do so.
Mr. Michael DeRois,
Principal |
