GPA/Rank

Rank in class is required by colleges and universities on transcripts submitted for entrance evaluation. Class ranking shall be determined as follows:

  1. Class ranking will be determined each semester beginning with the first semester of the ninth grade.
  2. Class rank will be based only on the grades earned in regular education classes that meet or exceed graduation requirements.
  3. Total grade points begin accumulating with the ninth grade. These are divided by total units attempted to produce the cumulative grade point average. Students are then ranked according to grade point average.
  4. Weighted Classes at BMHS
  5. Honors and Advanced Placement courses are offered at a 5.0 grading scale (A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, F=0). We believe that offering a 5.0 scale for the more challenging courses will encourage students to attempt these courses that are vital to University admission and many scholarships.
  6. The following courses carry a weighted grade: Honors English 1, 2, and 3, AP English, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra 2, Pre Calculus, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Honors Geoscience, Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics, Honors Zoology/Anatomy, AP Environmental Science, Honors World History/Geography, AP US History, AP Studio Art, and Yearbook.
